ShellShocked 2

For all of you who were too grumpy, lazy, tired, angry, disgruntled, stranded, oblivious, bed-ridden, busy saving the world, out of town, mean-spirited, cool, or fashionably late to show up at the bandshell on June 21, 2003, this is what you missed (as always, clicking on a picture makes your browser asexually reproduce a bigger picture in a new window).

Pre-Show

MIG and Scott Brooks set up sound equipment I don't know anything about.

ShellShocked 2 banner masterfully created by Megan Thiele.

Before the storm -OR- the obligatory pre-show longshot.

MIG

Despite the absence of Adam Gohn, MIG kicked off ShellShocked 2 in spectacular fashion, with Andrew "And the Trogdor comes in the NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGHT" Morton doing everything in his power to make Rob Halford green with envy.

"Eventually you'll have to conform to society."

Doubting Thomas

I never realized what a lovely singing voice Zachary Garrison has, but... well, it was... I'm sorry, I'm distracted by the haunting memories of lost love. Meanwhile, the acoustic stylings of Doubting Thomas juxtaposed well with the previous metal stylings of MIG.

Gabe Gross definitely has a higher heat tolerance than I do.

Pants 'R Implied

I heard good things about the performance put on by Spring Fever Reliever's first ever all-girl band, and they delivered again at ShellShocked. I'm not a big fan of the Avril songs, but the other tunes were great stuff and the entire set (a long one, at that!) was performed well.

I guess this is the last time in my life this many chicks will be willing to be in a picture *I'm* taking.

Echelon

I didn't know anything about Echelon going into this show. I didn't know anyone in the band or what they played, nor had I heard them before. But I left the show feeling very impressed by them. And I like Tom Petty, so they get bonus points for "Free Falling."

And, judging by this picture, they are not to be trifled with. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

Silent

I've come to really enjoy Silent's performances over the last... eh, year and a half or so. I guess I've only seen them three times, but I think they have real talent. Who needs vocals when you can jam like these guys?

Silent was not available for post-set photography, as I lost track of them in the mob of rabid female onlookers.

Modular Dispensing Systems

In a desperate attempt to ensure Adam Davis would only show up late instead of not show up at all to fulfill his duties as Rubber Conductor tromboner... er, trombonist, this impromptu trio was assembled on very short notice and had about 30 minutes of practice time. Their objective: completed successfully!

I like how sheepish Lukas looks in this picture.

Picture Unavailable

I have nothing more to say about this band. The horns section was a wonderful addition as it was. "Dancing" Brett Price, however, is the greatest addition any band anywhere could ever make.

Adam Davis did make it in the end. Not pictured: Matt Sissom, who was fleeing his adoring fans. In his place is a Matt Sissom cardboard standie.

Bonus non-Band Pictures!

Emcee Cole Jenkins tries to work the crowd.

It's the crowd!

Another crowd shot.

And one more.
